Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages often use acronyms in their work. Here are some  you may hear:

WIDA

Consortium of states created to meet federal testing requirements. The acronym originally stood for World-class Instructional Design and Assessment. Now WIDA just means WIDA.
 

WIDA ACCESS for ELLs

Secure large-scale English language proficiency assessment administered to Kindergarten through 12th-grade students who have been identified as English language learners. It is given annually.
 

WIDA MODEL

The WIDA MODEL (Measure of Developing English Language) is a series of English language proficiency assessments for Kindergarten through Grade 12. MODEL can be used by educators as an identification/placement assessment for newly enrolled ELLs or as an interim progress monitoring assessment.
